How to Make Money in Network Marketing
Hi, my name is Drew Berman from DrewBerman.com, and I teach network marketers how to go from hobby income to professional income. If you’re ever wondering where to get proper network marketing training that can help you double your business in half the time, come right back and I got 3 strategies for you that’ll help you. See you in a minute.
Hi, my name is Drew Berman from DrewBerman.com, and welcome back. I’ve been a network marketing professional since 2001 helping networkers like you go from hobby income to professional income.
Strategy number 1 is go professional. Become a professional. Think about what other professionals go through in their life and in their business and on their journey to become top income earners. Whether it’s becoming a teacher or a dentist or an athlete or a Broadway actor or even an engineer, you have to go through some training. You have to adapt the fact that you’re going to be one of the best. Because of the law of immersion, you’re going to immerse yourself into a career.
If you wanted to learn Italian right now, you’d have to start from scratch. You’d have to maybe get an Italian coach. You might have to get a book on Italian. You might have to go to Italy. You might have to take some Italian courses. You might have to study after hours, so that is strategy number 1, go professional, treat this like a career. Yes, you can make a lot of money quickly, but what’s more important is you can make a lot of money over the long term. Yes, it’s a 2 to 5 year plan, but I like to teach it’s a 10 to 20 year plan. You want to become a professional. Be a stand for your professional. That’s strategy number 1.
Strategy number 2, when you’re out prospecting and recruiting for your network marketing company, I made one shift a long time ago that got me from a 4 figure monthly income to a 5 figure monthly income. Here’s the shift. Instead of promising big amounts of money, because it is possible to create large amounts of money in network marketing; that’s why I chose this profession. It’s a leveraged profession. It’s a business where you can work smarter not harder. It’s a business where you can have international reach. It’s a business where you can learn the skills and grow.
Yes, you can turn it into 6 figures a year. You can turn it into 7 figures a year, but what’s more probable … see, we go from possible to probable … what’s more probable is, hey, are you open to some extra ways to make some money. Are you open to some extra weekly cash flow? Would an extra $1,000 or $2,000 a month help you in this economy? Based on everything that you have going on, if we can show you a way to increase your income by 10 or 20%, that would help, wouldn’t it?
See, when you start talking in percentages, people understand. If you’re talking to someone who’s making 50 grand, and you’re talking to someone who’s making 500 grand, and you talk about making an extra 5 or 10 grand, you’re going to be having 2 very different conversations. If you say to most professionals you can show them how to make an extra 10% to their income, keep the expectations realistic. Talking about making an extra couple hundred a month or a couple thousand a month, that shift for me ended up making me a lot more money than promising people big money on the front end. That’s strategy number 2.
Strategy number 3 is … In my book, I talk about the gradient. Now, the joke I talk about the gradient is if you met someone at a restaurant or a bar and you said, “Oh, hey, I really like you. Maybe we should go home, maybe have 5 or 6 kids, maybe get married, maybe buy a house, maybe travel around the world, maybe be married forever til death do us part,” that might be a little awkward when meeting somebody, right?
You want go out on a date. You want to see if there’s chemistry, if you have some things in common, if you have some of the same views, same goals, you might want to go on a 2nd date. You might want to do a … little kissy-poo. Then you can go through the gradient of spending the rest of your life together and having kids. I write about that in the book. What’s easier to walk on, a gently sloping ground or a steep hill? See, a lot of people in networking marketing are so excited because we offer a better life and a better lifestyle. They’re so excited that they go into the marketplace and that excitement comes off weird.
When a business places a ramp outside of its building to assist wheelchair-bound customers, state law or local ordinance defines the ramps maximum degree or slope. That’s because if the slope or gradient is too steep, people who need it will not be able to use it. You want to use the same principle of gradient in presenting your opportunity and building your business. You don’t just want to say to me, “Hey, if you join right now, we have a super juicy juice company with products from the Himalayas and you’re going to live forever and they’re doctor-approved and if you sign up now, we can put you on auto ship and then you can fly out to the company convention and we have millionaire upline that are making lots of money and they can help you.” You lose people. Keep it real, keep it normal, don’t make it weird, and you’re going to have great success.
These 3 steps that’ll help you double your income and double your time off, double your money in half the time. One, be a professional. Dress professional, act professional, read books about the profession. Two, don’t promise vast sums of money. Third principle, the gradient. When we meet someone, we want to get to know them in relationships as well as in business. The gradient in networking marketing, offer it slow, allow them time to earn and time to learn. We have a learn and earn program, that’s the gradient.
