Glenn Morshower – Frustration Leads to Breakthroughs

Glenn Morshower - Frustration Leads To BreakthroughsThis is the second post we have regarding lessons learned from Glenn Morshower at Craig Duswalt’s RockStar Marketing Bootcamp. Be sure to catch the previous lesson from Glenn Morshower here!
When is the last time that you were completely frustrated by something not happening? What did you do at that moment? Did you keep you focus on the end-goal and stick with it, or did you turn away and just walk away from it? During his extremely entertaining performance that I talked about in part one of my Glenn Morshower series (Glenn Morshower – Motivational Speaker Inspiring Beyond Belief) he introduced the Four Rooms concept that he went over in detail. However, a comment that he made has really been hanging in with me ever since.

Glenn Morshower on the Good in Frustration

When you feel the most frustrated by something it means that you are on the verge of a great breakthrough. So don’t give up!

So often people have told me that they reached a point in their new business or new venture, whatever it might be, and have turned away from it in complete frustration. Quitting at this moment is a guaranteed failure. However, finding the strength of belief to stick with it through the almost unbearable frustration is how greatness is achieved.

Applying Glenn Morshower’s theory on frustration to me, Seth Lefferts!

I find myself completely frustrated at the moment. My team is not producing. Many of them are dropping out. None of them are willing to go the distance. The new people that I am talking to are saying, “maybe later”, but not “OK, let’s give it a try”, so they are not joining the team. These are just cause for complete frustration. It can totally shake our belief when it has been a couple of years without any growth; years of developing new skills and talking to many people, attending conferences and corporate events along with self-improvement seminars. Everyone says “you can do it”, but the results seem to be going backward! With the economy the way it is, quite dismal, maybe it is time to get out of this side-track and buckle down on the same old things from before.
Ah, but then I hear Einstein in my head,

If you keep doing the same thing over and over expecting different results; this is the definition of insanity.

He makes a really good point there. We tend to fall back into our comfort zone when we get totally frustrated by something new that isn’t working, yet this is the exact moment when we are on the verge of a breakthrough. Frustration leads to new actions, and the new actions could be exactly what you need to rise up above the status quo. I know that it has been said many times, but it is worth repeating here…

A winner never quits, but a quitter never wins.

These are hard words to take in when money is tight and the new venture is not producing the alluring results. Still, it is worth it in the end. It always is, because as others drop out it leaves more room for success.
Whatever it is that you are doing, but find a huge amount of frustration from the lack of results, take a look at everything and make sure that you are taking the right steps. If you are, then don’t give up. When someone as real and inspiring as Glenn Morshower talks about it from his own experiences, then you can see that you can achieve anything if you focus on it, learn the skillset needed, take action steps, and believe in yourself. Don’t quit now!

Very true, Drew…as others drop out it leaves more room for success. There is also room when we’re willing to go the extra mile because the road to success is less traveled because most people will quit before they have a chance to get there.
