How to Build a Network Marketing Team

network marketing teamI just had the opportunity to meet NY Yankee Legend and pitching phenomenon, Mariano Rivera. It was great to talk baseball with one of the best if not the best closers in history. And when asked about all his career highlights, all he spoke about was TEAM.
Network Marketing, just like baseball, is all about the team. People ask me all the time about how to build a Network Marketing Team. Well for one you want to be a good recruiter. There are many different ways to build a network marketing team. And there are several different skills required. Just like in baseball. Just because you are a good hitter doesn’t mean anything if you are not on a good team. Just because you are a good recruiter doesn’t mean you know how to build a network marketing team.
There is an expression that says those that do, do… And those that can’t, teach. Not necessarily true in network marketing. Some try to manage their team too quickly, or too often and they end up scaring their team away… Or strangling their team…. Meaning they try to force their team to do too much. For those that don’t know how to build a network marketing team, it will often times feel like it’s easier to push wet spaghetti up a hill.

Here is a baseball strategy to help you learn how to build a network marketing team.

  1. General Manager The job here is to prospect and recruit the best talent out there. Sound familiar? In network marketing if you really want to know how to build a network marketing team …. then put on your recruiting hat. Who does what we do for a living? … Who does Phones, appointments, calendar, presentations, sales, objections … Etc. If you find talented people, successful people – you will find you are pushing less wet spaghetti.
  2. Manager Now you have a team, the goal is to help that team win. Not everyone can play 3rd base. And not everyone on your team will be a good recruiter. Train your team to do what they do best. Let your customers be customers and teach them how to refer other customers. Some people on your team will be good online, some will be better offline. Some will want to learn warm market, others will want to work cold market. Some local w home parties, others at a distant. Help the ones who are good in front of a group do presentations. The ones who are good at logistics, have them organize the events. Starting to see the big picture?
  3. Coach Are you being coached? Are you listening to your Upline leadership? As you learn the tips and techniques of how to build a network marketing business, you are going to want to teach it too. Find one or two leaders on your team, and coach them as they get up to speed. If you want to coach others, you need to be coached too. Even Mariano Rivera had a coach,and he was the best.
