My Birthday and the Connecticut Challenge

A Proud Start at the Connecticut Challenge

A Proud Start at the Connecticut Challenge

This was certainly an adventure of a lifetime. I raised $1000 for Cancer. I trained for 3 1/2 weeks. I made it 36 miles and then CRASH.
Post Crash Road Rash

Post Crash Road Rash

Carefully heading downhill, going fast, breaking gently, slick roads, into a turn – back wheel slid out and I flew over the handle bars. Head – shoulder – knee. Helmet saved my life – it has a huge dent. Sore back – badly bruised knee. Ended the day with 51 miles. My lesson? Life is not a spectator sport. In biking and in business and in life – sometimes you fall. Today I fell pretty hard.

Bruised

It could have been devastating. Life could have changed in a split second. I got back up. Have some really cool battle wounds. Met 3 prospects. All in all – it was a great birthday.

Totally inspired by you cranking through the CT Challenge today, I had a most awesome run this afternoon. It was hot and my mp3 player was broke but I persevered. And, as you know, that’s what it’s all about – perseverance! Life will regularly throw a bunch of obstacles in your way (slick roads with 3/4″ wide bike tires?). It’s up to you as to how you deal with the situation and outcome. If you look at things simply as problems, you’re at a dead end. If you look at things as opportunities, you’re just starting! ROCK ON, DREW! You make me proud!

Always knew you were a “head over heels” kind of guy who jumps into life and love and business totally committed to giving your all. Now you’ve got the wounds of a “hero” to prove it! Congratulations on raising $1,000 for cancer and completing 36 miles. It’s a new beginning now, isn’t it? A dent in your helmet is life’s little way of saying Happy Birthday – you get another one and another, etc. It’s all good news from here on out – more time to laugh and work and share and grow in the true richness of life and family.
Happy Special Birthday. YOU ROCK, DREW!
