Get that 80’s hair ready and break out the jacket with the shoulder pads, ’cause today we’re going old school. If you have been keeping up with my blog posts then you already know it is that time of year when I go back through some of my more clever posts and re-iterate some of the most helpful information.
For those of you who follow my postings, then you must be familiar with my famous Time After Time…Management and Value post that included none other than lyrics to Cyndi Lauper’s 80’s smash hit “Time After Time. Now for those of you who have not read that blog post and if you are wondering,
“How could this possibly relate to network marketing?”
“Drew has officially lost his mind, there’s no way a Cyndi Lauper song can relate to anything that has to do with network marketing.”
I am very proud to say, I am going to prove you wrong.
“Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new/Flashback, warm nights/Almost left behind/Suitcases of memories”
In my original post, I spoke about the importance of patience in the network marketing profession. Which of course these lyrics can relate to. It is very easy to feel as if you are running around in constant circles when you are just getting into a profession and nothing is working out the way that you planned.
In the first version of “Time After Time…Management and Value”, I stated,
“But one of the things that I had to learn was the value of patience and the importance of making the most of the time I was putting into the field. I figured, hey, since I am putting all of precious time and money into this profession, I may as well be learning something, so I began to do research. I went to several training events, read up on books, and really invested my time wisely into the profession.”
“After my picture fades and darkness has turned to gray/Watching through windows, you’re wondering if I’m okay…”
These lyrics can relate to the importance of never losing focus on the things you are passionate about. For example in my other post I mentioned,
“It is far too common for a person who has been participating in something that they once loved to stop loving it if they allow it to simply become “a part of the job”. Losing the passion for something you once loved to do is the worst thing that can happen to a person in life. Therefore, have fun with what you do and love it. This love and enjoyment will shine through to the customers and employees so that they will never have to wonder if you’re okay.”
“If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me/Time After Time/If you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting/Time After Time”
A large part of life is learning the importance of giving back. Everyone who is successful did not get there on their own. no matter how much they would like to think that they did. The people who invested their money, time, and faith in you played a part in your success. Showing those who invest their faith in you that you care.
“Give others advice and try to catch them when they fall (because trust me, we all do when getting into this field). In fact, to dedicate my own time and product that I value greatly, if you are still trying to find your way in network marketing, check out Network Success School.”
